Abstract

Introduction: Colon cancer (CC) remains a global public health concern and poses significant challenges in clinical management. There is considerable variability in prognosis, which is also influenced by molecular factors such as dMMR and MSI. We sought to explore the relationship between dMMR and MSI status and CC prognosis in adults, based on scientific literature published between January 2018 and January 2024.
Methods: A systematic review was conducted using the PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. Nineteen studies published in Q1-Q4 journals recognized in Scimago Journal & Country Rank between 2018 and 2024 were selected. Rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, with independent review of the studies by the authors.
Results: An exploration of 18,079 patients revealed convergences and divergences in the literature.
Conclusions: The positive association between dMMR/MSI and improved prognosis is supported, suggesting its usefulness in risk stratification and therapeutic decision-making.
